Sims 4 August Update Adds a Marketplace Cache and Fresh CAS Options
The latest Sims 4 update is not the flashiest patch of the year, but it touches two places players visit constantly: Create a Sim and the Marketplace. Released on August 25, 2026, the update brings a small batch of free CAS content, a new Marketplace image cache, and several fixes aimed at smoother browsing and console play.

There is also a manual clear option for PC and Mac players. If the Marketplace starts showing stale or broken images, players can use the cheat command <code>clearonlinethumbnailcache true</code>. The cache folder lives under <code>Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\onlinethumbnailcache</code>, and EA says unused cache files are automatically maintained after 14 days from the last Marketplace visit.
CAS Gets a Free Style Drop
The headline addition for CAS is the new size-inclusive clothing set. EA describes it as clothing designed to flatter Sims across different body shapes, and it arrives with six CAS assets plus five Styled Looks. The update also adds five new Starter Sims wearing the new pieces, which means players may see them in CAS or bring them in from the Gallery.
The other CAS standout is the cosmic coils afro-textured hairstyle. EA frames the hair as part of its wider push for representation in Create a Sim, and it fits that role well: it is expressive, sculptural, and distinct enough to feel like a real new option rather than filler.
Bug Fixes Are Small but Useful
The fix list is short, but it targets some annoying friction points. Marketplace pages should display correctly when entered from CAS after a Quick Buy install, PlayStation launch stability should improve, and right-stick scrolling should no longer get stuck while browsing Marketplace or Pack Details pages on console.
Should Players Update Right Away?
For vanilla players, yes. The update is current across PC, Mac, and console, and the additions are mostly base-game quality-of-life improvements. Modded players should still do the usual routine: back up saves, update the game, delete <code>localthumbcache.package</code>, and check mod status lists before loading an important save.
